CLR XMS #50

Way too much caffeine mars this podcast, so my apologies. However, in honor of transmission #50, I’ve assembled a few of my favorite bands and picked some of my favorite songs from them.

- “Airbag” - Radiohead. Best side one, track one of recent times.
- “London Calling” - The Clash. The Only Band That Matters.
- “Paid in Full” - Eric B. & Rakim. This album made me a star in my final days at San Leandro High School.
- “And Your Bird Can Sing” - The Beatles. From a band that perfected perfection, this was one of their highest peaks.
- “Say It Isn’t So” - Hall & Oates. We all have our guilty pleasures, don’t knock it.
- “Raspberry Beret” - Prince. Not fully appreciated in its day, one of the finest pop jams of the 80s.
- “Prophets of Rage” - Public Enemy. I got a right to be hostile! I still remember the first time I heard this, amazingly on KPRS about two weeks before It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back was released.
- “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” - The Smiths. The sweetest dark song ever.
- “I Will Follow” - U2. An ode to lost mothers.
- “Don’t Dream It’s Over” - Crowded House. My all-time favorite song.
- “So You Wanna Be a Rock and Roll Star” - Pearl Jam. Are the rules finally changing, in the age of podcasts, blogs, etc?
