CLR XMS #47

1 - “On the Radio” - Regina Spektor. Borderline too soft for CLR. And I never liked “November Rain.”
2 - “The Sons of Cain” - Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. As Borat would say, “very nice!”
3 - “The Picture” - Son Volt. Sounding unlike any Jay Farrar track I’ve ever heard.
4 - “Down in the Valley” - The Broken West. Good stuff from SoCal.
5 - “Gonlandic Edit” - Of Montreal. Undeniable disco grooves.
6 - “Everything’ll Fall Apart” - Age Rings. Mid-90s flashback.
7 - “Yankee Go Home” - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I’m not loving most of their new stuff, but this is a stand-out track.
8 - “Dear Prudence” - Siouxsie and the Banshees. One of the greatest covers ever.

CLR XMS #46

Not even the glow of a World Championship can cut the chill here in Carmel Liberation Radio headquarters. Perhaps these tracks will do the trick.

1 - "Talk to Me" - Frogpond. A classic piece of Midwest grunge from the 1990s.
2 - "Grace Kelly" - Mika. Courtesy of loyal listener Luke in the U.K.
3 - "Chop 'Em Down" - Matisyahu. I just can't help myself sometimes.
4 - "In Context" - Field Music. Some of their music reminds me of Yes. I don't say that as a compliment, although for some reason I like them.
5 - "North American Scum" - LCD Soundsystem. You're either with us or you're North American scum.
6 - "Children of December" - The Slip. Too cute? Perhaps.
7 - "Phantom Limb" - The Shins. Pop perfection. The Shins will change your life.
8 - "I Saw Her Standing There" - The Smithereens. I guess if you're going to cover the Beatles, you might as well sound just like them instead of making it your own.
