CLR XMS #45

A tasty mix of late '06 and early '07 tunes to warm your cold, winter days.

1 - "Hush Boy" - Basement Jaxx. A sure-fire way to get a party that is waning jumping again.
2 - "After the War" - Sleep Station. I've always been a fan of concept albums that take you back to World War II.
3 - "Trophy" - Bat for Lashes. Haunting song from a former Pakistani athletic great.
4 - "Ruby" - The Kaiser Chiefs. Early heros of CLR return.
5 - "Searching for the Ghost" - Heartless Bastards. Some fabulous indie rock from Cincinnati.
6 - "This Is a Song" - The Magic Numbers. Late '06 release, but their new single, so still new to you.
7 - "I Will Wander" - The Features. Indie rock from Nashville? Who knew?
8 - "Distant Sun" - Crowded House. Recorded live during their Farewell to the World concert, November 24, 1996.

CLR XMS #44

A few songs leftover from 2006 and a few outstanding, spankin' new songs to kick off 2007.

1 - "Intervention" - The Arcade Fire. A very early candidate for best song of '07.
2 - "You Could Have Both" - The Long Blondes. How on earth did I miss this last fall? A little Human League-ish in the central break. Some fantastic lyrics throughout.
3 - "Empty Chair" - Dear Leader. One of several "Unforgettable Fire"-ish tracks on their new CD.
4 - "Dashboard" - Modest Mouse. An excellent early track off their up-coming disk. Johnny Marr rears his genius head.
5 - "There Goes My Outfit" - The Dears. The Arcade Fire isn't the only great band coming from north of the border. This one is stuck in my head.
6 - "Herculean" - The Good, The Bad & The Queen. Released for one day in October, this was an early single off the UK super-group's new album. Members of Blur, The Clash, and The Verve coming together to make music for the new millennium.
7 - "Casual Use" - The Shortwave Set. CLR is for casual use, only.
8 - "Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud)" - James Brown. Farewell to the Godfather.
